Sat nav donation for Norwich CFR group

Thursday, 17 September, 2015

A community first responder group has received a boost following a donation from a Norwich supermarket.

Craig MacDonald, co-ordinator of the Sprowston CFRs, was presented with a new sat nav by staff from the Sainsbury’s Pound Lane store.

It comes after the Sainsbury’s store made the group its annual charity partner in July and has already generated almost £1,000 through a range of fundraisers.

Sprowston CFRs have also held awareness days to recruit new members at the supermarket. The group covers Sprowston, Thorpe St Andrew, Old Catton and nearby surrounding areas.

The sat nav presentation was made by Helen Tweed, who is Grocery Online Team Leader at the store, who recently qualified as a CFR for the group.

Craig said: “Our thanks goes to Sainsbury’s Pound Lane for their generosity. The sat nav will play a vital role in reaching patients in our community and will be an integral part of our kit. Going forward, it will help us to reach patients with more accuracy and save valuable time in our emergency response.”

The next Sprowston CFR fundraising day will be held on Friday 2nd October at the Pound Lane store when a trolley full of shopping will be raffled for £2 per ticket.

Community First Responders are trained to attend a range of medical emergencies, including cardiac arrests, diabetic emergencies and patients with breathing difficulties, chest pain and allergic reactions.
