Landmark ambulance industry event to be launched at Ambulex

The first annual lecture programme for the ambulance service is to be inaugurated by the Independent Ambulance Association at Ambulex on 10 July this year.
Each year the Association will select a leading influential figure from the public and private healthcare community to present The IAA Lecture on a theme reflecting the importance of transportation in the care, well-being and safety of patients.
“Healthcare is embarking on the most radical root to branch reorganization since the NHS was created more than 60 years ago and where it will eventually take us is still to be discovered. The vision for the IAA Lecture is that it will be a regular signpost for the way forward for patient transport with the views of the invited lecturer contributing to the continuous healthcare debate” said David Davis, IAA Director.
The first IAA Lecture - “Healthcare Transportation: The Patient Experience” will be presented by Professor Dale Harrow, Dean of the School of Design at the Royal College of Art.
Professor Harrow is at present leading a project to redesign of the current NHS emergency ambulance to meet the healthcare needs for the 21st century.
The project is a collaboration between the RCA, Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, NHS London and the University of the West of England.
Professor Harrow has been Head of Vehicle Design at the College since 1999 and his work has been internationally acclaimed for its reflection of a rapidly changing urban and technologically environment.
