Paramedic Science at Staffordshire University

Staffordshire University has worked in collaboration with West Midlands Ambulance Service to develop 2 education programmes, which are 50% theory and 50% practice based learning in Paramedic Science. Practice-based learning is assisted by linking the student with a mentor who guides and facilitates the development of practice skills in the context of paramedic practice predominately in the out of hospital setting. Both programmes provide the opportunity to develop a knowledgeable and competent paramedic who will be fit for purpose, role and employment. The full programmes allow a qualification, which will allow eligibility to apply for Paramedic registration with the Health Professions Council. Students will also be eligible to progress onto the 3rd year of some existing degree programmes.

Staffordshire University has been delighted to be able to support West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust in its drive to increase the number of paramedics in the workforce.

Staffordshire University is the fourth higher education institution in the West Midlands to be commissioned to offer Paramedic trained which meets the competences needed for registration with the Health Professions Council.
