Londons Air Ambulance Charity Announces Refreshes Board of Trustees with Three New Appointments

• Baroness Caroline Pidgeon MBE, Johnty Gray, and Professor Karim Brohi join the charity, who fund London’s pre-hospital trauma teams.
• Trustees were selected for their work across the charity’s key areas of focus – medicine, fundraising and their patient cohort across Greater London.   

London’s Air Ambulance Charity has announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees, with Baroness Caroline Pidgeon MBE, Johnty Gray, and Professor Karim Brohi adding their experience to the support the charity’s work.

The new trustees bring a wealth of expertise spanning public service, international fundraising, and frontline trauma care. Their combined experience will support the charity as it delivers its long-term strategy to expand and enhance its frontline operations. The charity has a long history of delivering innovation and is looking to continue that trend through expansion of its pre-hospital ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) capability.  

Baroness Caroline Pidgeon MBE is an experienced leader with a 26-year career as a Southwark Councillor and London Assembly Member. A member of the House of Lords since August 2024, she brings extensive board experience and a background in NHS communication.

Johnty Gray is a senior fundraising and engagement leader with over three decades of experience in the NGO sector. Currently the Individual Engagement Director at Oxfam GB, he has a proven track record of driving sustainable income growth at major charities, including WaterAid and Save the Children.

Professor Karim Brohi is a consultant trauma surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust and Professor of Trauma Sciences at Queen Mary University of London. He led the London Major Trauma System from 2014 to 2025 and serves as a Non-Executive Director of the London Ambulance Service.

The appointments come at a vital time for the charity, which relies heavily on public donations to maintain its advanced trauma team 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The new trustees will help steer the charity’s strategic vision, governance, and financial sustainability.
