Devon Air Ambulance Trust launches its own Retail Awards

Wednesday, 15 January, 2014

Last Wednesday saw the first Retail Awards ceremony for Devon Air Ambulance Trust, celebrating retail excellence throughout their 13 charity shops.

Chrissie Peel, Retail Operations Manager of Devon Air Ambulance Trust said “We are very proud of our charity shops and the standards they set in the community.  We were looking for a way to celebrate our fantastic, hard-working staff and volunteers, and came up with the idea of our own awards.”

She added “2013 was a landmark year for our retail team.  As well as opening two new shops, and a rebranding of another into our first discount shop, in December we went through the £1 million sales mark for the first time in one trading year.  This is a huge achievement for such a small retail team with 13 shops.  Something to truly celebrate.”

The award categories and winners were:

Shop of the Year – Sidmouth.  Recognised for overall achievement including volunteer recruitment, engaging with local businesses, glitz and glamour evening and sales.

Highly Commended Shop of the Year – Newton Abbot.  For the best like for like sales - +3%.

Sales and Contribution – Sidmouth.  For achieving 24% over sales target in the first year of trading.

Gift Aid Performance – Honiton. For the best improvement on 2012 – an increase of +214%

Innovation – Tiverton. For engaging with social media and fundraising initiatives.

Community involvement – Barnstaple. For a huge amount of engagement with the local community during 2013.
