Rob Ashford

Anita Human

A change of chairmanship is announced today (29 April 2013) by the directors of the Independent Ambulance Association following the decision of Rob Ashford, chief executive of The Thames Group to return to the National Health Service in a senior position at the East of England Ambulance Trust.

David Davis, IAA Director, said: "Rob's decision to step down was accepted by the Board with very great regret. He was one of the Association's founding supporters and leader during its early days and we wish him every success in the future."

The Board will recommend at the Association's annual meeting on 16 May that Rob will be succeeded from 1 June by Anita Human, a qualified nurse and managing director of Human Touch Ambulance Service; it will also announce that elections among members will be held shortly to fill vacancies for 2 directors.

Davis added: "In view of the Association's considerable growth in size of membership, recognition and influence since it was formed little more than a year ago it had already been planned to review its managerial structure and administration.

The review will now commence and should be completed by the year end"
