Charity football success for SECAmb

Thursday, 13 May, 2010

South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SECAmb) emerged triumphant at a recent ambulance 6-a-side charity football tournament hosted by the Trust in Hastings, East Sussex.

The winning team consisted of staff from Hastings Ambulance Station. The event, organised by SECAmb paramedics Heath West and Tim Hodgson, saw close to £500 raised for St Michael's Hospice in Hastings and Breast Cancer Care.

The tournament attracted 10 ambulance service teams from across the UK with teams travelling from Scotland, South Yorkshire, Birmingham, Worcester and London.

After the group stages and semi-finals, Hastings 'A' and South Yorkshire 'A' needed extra time and penalties to separate them in a goalless final, which Hastings eventually won 4-1 on penalties.
The organisers would like to thank all the teams and supporters who attended and donated on the day, Medtronic for sponsorship and a number of local companies in Hastings who donated prizes to the raffle.

The tournament will take place in Hastings again next year. Any stations interested in participating should email:
