Bedfordshire side in green stripes, South Central in yellow

Torrential rain and blustery winds did not dampen the spirit of the Bedfordshire locality football team last weekend.

A select team of emergency operation centre staff from Bedford, and a group of lads from Luton station, headed towards Milton Keynes on Saturday to take on South Central Ambulance Service. The sunny journey up the M1 didn't last very long. As soon as the game was underway, the heavens opened.

The game was very close throughout, and Bedfordshire started off the brighter side. There was some very neat interplay which caused the South Central goalie to pull off some fine saves. The second half was a bit scrappy and the wind was taking its toll on the tired legs in both teams. The final whistle was blown by stand in referee Paul Wyant, who done a fine job keeping the game flowing. South Central turned out the eventual winners by two goals to nil. Both teams are hoping to meet up again in the near future.
