A man who was brought back to life whilst on route to hospital has made an emotional return to meet the crew who have saved him.

Jon Beckerman, 60, who is the councillor for Sherrards Wood in Welwyn Garden City awoke on June 6 with chest pains. He checked his own blood pressure which read very high. He went to work as normal thinking the pains were heartburn. A few hours later, his wife Carol was called upon to take him to the QE11 where it was quickly diognosed having a blood clot.

Following treatment and stabilisation in accident service, Welwyn based paramedics Angie Luddington and Tim Dent were called to transfer Jon to the PPCI department at the Lister hospital in Stevenage.

Whilst on route towards the Lister on the A1(M), Jon deterioted and arrested. His wife Carol was by his side. Tim said: "I asked my colleague to pull over as we approached junction 6. Angie jumped in the back of the ambulance and Jon was in VF. We delivered one shock and Jon began to respond."

He was quickly taken to the Lister where he had a stent inserted in his left cornary artery which had a 100% blockage. Jon made a good recovery within 40 minutes of thie procedure. An emotional Jon finally met up with his lifesavers at Welwyn ambulance station, he said: "If it wasn't for Angie and Tims skills, knowledge and rapid interventions I most probally wouldn't be shaking their hands today."

His wife Carol also praised them both, she said:"It was a very tramatic to witness Jon arrest in the ambulance. Both Angie and Tim were very kind and thoughtful throughout the incident." Jon has made a full recovery and is keeping very busy at work and he is also back to running to keep himself in shape.
