A Community First Responder in Staffordshire is celebrating, if a little embarrassed, at being named First Responder of the Year for the County.

David Frost, a founder member of the Madeley Community First Responder group, was one of about 40 people honoured at the West Midlands Ambulance Service annual Volunteers Awards Ceremony.

David has the roles of Transport Officer and Stores Officer. He also offers training in Basic Life Support and the use of Automated External Defibrillators. On top of this he still finds the
time to make himself available for near on 70 hours per week, outside of his full time day job; a huge commitment to the community.

Jo Barratt Secretary of the group, said: "David is one of the most dedicated people I know. He has responded to almost 330 incidents in the last two years alone. He dedicates a lot of his life to responding; helping other people in our community. He is always willing to help, is liked and well known throughout the area and we are all very proud of him."
