Paramedics for Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service Locations: Stoke-On-Trent, Great Yarmouth and Ipswich

E-zec is a private ambulance company that provides a Patient Transport Service on behalf of the NHS and other private companies.

Due to continued expansion, E-zec Medical Transport Services are now looking to recruit a number of Permanent (full- and part-time) and 0 Hours Contract Paramedics (over a 24 hour 7 day week rota, as advised) to be based either in the Staffordshire, Great Yarmouth or Ipswich area.

E-zec Medical are contracted to transfer patients that require a higher level of clinical care than can be supplied by the Patient Transport Service (PTS) This involves the monitoring of patients during their transfer. To monitor the patient a 3 lead ECG, SA02 and NIBP will be used.  E-zec are NOT an emergency service so E-zec HDU staff are trained to drive progressively using ‘Blues and Twos’ only when they have a patient on the ambulance. All HDU patients for transport will be transferred from a hospital to a care facility for a higher level of treatment. These patients will have been diagnosed by the transferring unit so will just need monitoring during their transfer.

Duties will include:

  • To treat and transport high dependency urgent and non-urgent cases in accordance with HCPC paramedic standards of proficiency, JRCALC guidelines and E-zec Medical protocols.
  • To maintain a professional level of service to the stakeholders in line with the contracted performance standards.
  • Undertake driving duties if required on all types of vehicles operated by E-zec Medical, if appropriately qualified and licensed.
  • To ensure that all equipment provided is kept to the highest standard and any defects or losses are reported immediately.
  • To ensure that the vehicle provided is cleaned daily and check that the vehicle is roadworthy, including fuel; water and oil. Report any defects on the appropriate forms.
  • To provide assessment of patients, planning and implementing to patients and others. This will include their care and treatment. To continually evaluate and give advice.
  • Handling Prescribing and administering, non–prescription, prescription and controlled drugs if require to do so by the transferring hospital who will supply the controlled drugs if require.
  • Invasive procedures where appropriately trained and competent
  • Cardiac Monitoring – e.g. ECG Monitoring via a 3 lead ECG,
  • Ensure effective communication to other health and social care professionals for the benefit of the patient.
  • Complete any documentation required e.g. Patient Report Forms, Incident Reports, Accident Books or any other report associated with your duties. Complete any information relating to Quality Monitoring.
  • Co-operate and/or recommend any measures designed to improve patient care or the efficiency of the service.
  • Make dynamic risk assessment of the environment and general situation, having due regard for the health and safety of self and others. Responsible for the safe use of the ambulance and all equipment.
  • Administer appropriate drugs that can be used by Registered Paramedics.

You will be working on a four on - four off rota pattern over seven nights/nights (12 hours per shift).

You must be fully qualified as a Paramedic and hold a current state registration with the HCPC. In addition, you must hold a full driving license for at least 2 years with no more than 3 points and have evidence of CPD (Continuous Professional Development).

If appointed, an enhanced DBS disclosures will be required.

Training

When you join E-zec Medical Transport Services as Paramedic, you will undergo an induction programme and assessed by E-zec’s lead Paramedic.
