BSc(Hons) Paramedic Science



The paramedic profession is now undergoing rapid development, with an increasing recognition of the role Paramedics play in the provision of high quality out-of-hospital care.

Developed in conjunction with the West Midlands Ambulance Service this part-time CPD award commencing September 2009, consists of a minimum of 6 modules delivered over 2-4 years and the aims are to provide the opportunity for Registered Paramedics to; Further develop the existing knowledge and skills to become proficient, co-ordinated and confident practitioners who will be able to enhance their practice from an evidence base and who employ critical reflective strategies to continually evaluate their own and others performance and who will lead developments in health care." This will prepare capable paramedics to take advantage of the emerging opportunities within the profession.

The course is open to Registered Paramedics, and applicants should have 120 credits at Level 1 (certificate level) and Level 2 (diploma level).

For those Registered paramedics without academic credit, evidence of ability to study at Level 2 is required, but opportunities exist for applicants to be reviewed on an individual basis and the production of a portfolio of evidence supporting level 2 (Diploma) outcomes may be acceptable.
