Friday, 14 March, 2014

The NHS Trust Development Authority (NHS TDA) has announced the appointment of Sarah Boulton as Interim Chair of the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST).

Sarah has worked at NHS Board level for many years, chairing a number of NHS organisations, most recently as chair of NHS Midlands and East Strategic Health Authority. Sarah has a background in business and finance having worked as a business and management lecturer and more recently as a management consultant advising on strategy, change and Board development.

Sarah said: “This is a great opportunity to work with the Board, staff and volunteers at the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust and be part of the team to improve the service. This is going to take time but having met with new Chief Executive Dr Marsh, I am pleased with the actions which have already been put in place and the progress being made. I look forward to working with the Trust Board and engaging with staff and stakeholders to deliver the improvements needed.”

Chief Executive Dr Anthony Marsh said: “I am delighted that Sarah is joining the Trust as Chair. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the service and I look forward to working with her as we make changes, better support staff and improve services to patients.”

The NHS TDA will be launching the recruitment process for a permanent Chair in the next few weeks. In the meantime Sarah will take up the Interim Chair position immediately to provide stability and expert leadership for the Trust Board. EEAST will be working closely with the NHS TDA to launch the recruitment process for a permanent Chair as soon as possible.

Non-executive appointments to NHS Trusts made by the NHS TDA are subject to the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments.

Sarah Boulton was been appointed from 10 March 2014 and is entitled to receive a remuneration of £37,146 per annum.
