A Suffolk micro-brewery is supporting the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) with a special beer to celebrate the charity's 10th anniversary.

The award-winning Mill Green Brewery at Edwardstone near Sudbury is brewing a premium golden ale called 'Lifesaver' which has a strength of 4.2%.

The beer is to be officially launched on April 21st at the opening of the East Anglian Beer Festival run by the West Suffolk Campaign for Real Ale. The festival, at the Bury St Edmunds Corn Exchange, has also chosen EAAA as one of the charities it will be supporting this year.

A limited edition bottled version of the beer will also be available from the charity and other outlets during this year only.

Tom Norton, who brewed the beer, said: "I have made this beer to a special recipe. It is a genuine one-off, so those who want to try it will have to do so during this limited period of availability."

The brewery is in the grounds of the White Horse pub at Edwardstone. It currently supplies a number of free houses as well as the White Horse, where the first brew of 'Lifesaver' has already gone on sale and beer festivals to order.

Director of fundraising and marketing at EAAA Richard Robinson said: "This is a wonderful gesture from Tom to make a donation from every pint and bottle sold. I hope real ale enthusiasts will seek out the beer and encourage landlords to have it as a guest beer if they can."

The EAAA operates a 365 day life-saving service across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. It receives no direct government or National Lottery funding and has to raise £3.5 million per year to keep its two air ambulances flying and to provide the advanced medical equipment they carry. It is entirely dependent on fund-raising and contributions from members of the public.

The EAAA's first aircraft, Anglia One, provides a dedicated service to Norfolk and Suffolk while its second Anglia Two provides the service for Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire.
