React By Autoclenz Launches New Infection Control Service

Thursday, 04 March, 2010

React by Autoclenz has officially launched its state-of-the-art portable Infection Control Service. Using a dry mist technology, this simple and uniquely effective infection control service has an ultrasonic nebuliser to generate a dry mist which treats both the ambient air and the inaccessible exposed surfaces of any given area. It is an independently proven defence against 99.9 per cent of harmful pathogens, including MRSA, Clostridium difficile, Salmonella, swine flu and norovirus. This system isn't just highly effective; it's also environmentally friendly, non-toxic and won't damage sensitive equipment or furniture.

Dry mist technology is incredibly fast-acting and can be applied at weekends or night time while premises or wards are empty - that means minimal downtime and disruption. From leisure, retail or food production outlets right through to offices, transport, education, custody suites or healthcare premises, React's Infection Control Services deliver the peace of mind that comes from knowing that a contagious outbreak, or the threat of one, has been tackled head on.

Derek Butler, Chair of MRSA Action UK, said: "An increasing number of experts now confirm that many of the major threats from infections in both the hospital and care home environment are risks from airborne bacteria.

We know that those who have had MRSA or Clostridium difficile are potential carriers and we know that, particularly in the case of Clostridium difficile, once in the environment it is very difficult to remove.

This is why every effort should be made to eliminate these bacteria from the air. After all, if it's airborne, then it lands on surfaces this adds to the possibility of the bacteria spreading in the environment. There is a clear duty to provide and maintain a clean and appropriate environment for healthcare, yet not all healthcare facilities are making use of the technology that exists to alleviate this problem.

Used in conjunction with regular deep-cleaning there are portable devices that use biocides that can remove harmful pathogens from the air. This important element of keeping the environment clean and safe should not be overlooked when spending infection prevention and control budgets. Prevention is always better than cure. There can be no halfway measures in fighting Healthcare Infections, we have to use all the tools at our disposal and it must be an all or nothing battle." No single measure will cure the problem with Healthcare Infections, but put together they will make the difference.

In the United States, the government and healthcare professionals are quickly reassessing the role that air plays in disease transmission. The US government is considering no longer reimbursing for hospital-acquired infections. This is forcing the US healthcare sector to take responsibility for airborne infections for which more preventative action could help reduce associated costs.

Here, as the University of Leeds is pioneering research into airborne disease transmission, infection control professionals are now thinking of prevention as a multi-disciplined approach with airborne infection control as integral to the solution as hand washing and surface cleaning.

React is already a market leader in deep cleaning and decontamination specialists. This gives the company an envied position in understanding the demands and pressures of successfully cleaning some of the UK's toughest challenges.

Speaking about the service, John Crouch, React Director said: "Since the very beginning React has focused on providing the highest quality service to our customers. Combined with innovation, a desire to continually improve on what we do and by working with our clients to develop our services, we've developed into a highly successful business. "The infection control service sees the next stage in our development, which is allowing us to develop further in a very important market. Everyone at React is incredibly excited and optimistic about the market opportunities for the service and we're looking forward to working with both our existing and new customers to help make their premises safer."

Grahame Rummery, Chief Executive, was keen to stress the environmental aspects of the infection control service: "React is an environmentally-focused business. Our business is ISO 14001 accredited and we take our environmental responsibilities so seriously that we have embedded the ethos into our business practices. That is why this service has been designed to be sustainable for the long term - from both a financial, health and environmental perspective."

Autoclenz is the UK's market leader in car valeting and cleaning, vehicle movements, repair and specialist cleaning and decontamination services.
