Reappointment of non-executive director

The London Ambulance Service is pleased to announce that Dr Beryl Magrath MBE has been reappointed as a non-executive director of the Trust.

Dr Magrath, a former consultant anaesthetist who used to work at Bromley Hospitals NHS Trust and was Medical Director there between 1992 and 2000, was also the founder of South Bromley HospisCare.

She serves as a school governor for a Bromley primary school and was vice-chairman of trustees of Harris HospisCare until it merged with St Christopher's Hospice last year. Dr Magrath is serving a new four-year appointment on the Trust Board, from 1 April 2009 until 31 March 2013.

She first took up the non-executive post, which now carries of a remuneration of £6,005 per annum, in 2005.

The appointment has been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments' (OCPA) code of practice.

All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is requirement for appointees' political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Dr Magrath holds no other ministerial appointments and has declared no involvement in any other political activity.
