The Chief Executive at NHS North West, has thanked all the region's healthcare staff for their outstanding contribution to the NHS.

Mike Farrar offered his thanks on the eve of the NHS' 60th birthday at an event held to celebrate the contribution of black and minority ethnic (BME) staff to the success of the NHS since the birth of the health service in Trafford in 1948.
Mike said, "We are extremely blessed in the North West to have an NHS workforce that is dedicated, highly-skilled, motivated and which puts the patient first in everything we do. Like many of us in this region, the NHS was born in the North West and this year it celebrates its 60th anniversary. Every day since that momentous occasion the region's healthcare staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that patients feel safe, comfortable and looked after in their times of need.

"The NHS has had and still has its critics. However, I have worked in the NHS for more than 25 years and every day I see many reasons why we should all be proud to be associated with the NHS."
