Medair Unit from Proact Medical

Medair, a leader in high performance EtCO2 technology, use 'low flow' sidestream technology to monitor the respiratory status of either intubated or spontaneously breathing patients. The core technology utilises a stable optical bench in order to provide a fast and accurate measurement, vital in the pre-hospital environment.

Benefiting from touch-screen ease of use, backlit LCD displays and low cost consumables as well as bespoke technology, Medair EtCO2 monitors are now being widely recognised as an extremely attractive alternative to other established brands.

Recently, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance purchased a Medair LifeSense unit which measures both EtCO2 and SpO2 which has been in use for several months and is proving to be a valuable addition to their equipment list. They particularly like its simplicity and ease of use - with no menu access required, patient monitoring can begin within 30 seconds.

Battery life has also exceeded expectation, with a full charge giving in excess of 8 hours operation, whilst its compact and lightweight design allows easy transportation and storage.

The LifeSense unit has also been evaluated by the Mercia BASICS doctors (MARS) and compared against similar monitors. The Medair Lifesense established itself as the first choice for them and they have decided to equip their BASICS Doctors with the units. The Medair EtCO2 monitors also allow comprehensive data download (via the Trendsense module and Oxiview software) giving clinical data in both graphical and numeric readouts.
