The New Photophone an encrypted mobile phone based interactive image and data application

Primetech is a leading provider of pioneering mobile satellite communications, rugged computers and secure auto-meshing Wi -Fi technology, offering a specialised and unrivalled range of products.

Recognising that cost effective, reliable solutions are going to be key for 2011, Primetech has introduced two new high tech systems to complete its wireless communication offering. As Henry Walker, Director of Primetech, explains: "we have to work harder than ever to accommodate restricted budgets. We have therefore looked for progressive options that do not require complete refits."

Primetech has been awarded sole distributorship of the advanced PowerBrick ™ Ruggedised Vehicle Computer System in the UK. Using satellite as the back haul media, this innovative, small footprint mobile computer system has been specifically designed for the fire, police and ambulance services.

Capable of handling any software applications, it provides the fire service with all the tools and data that personnel would have at their desks. There is instant access to map books, emergency guides, site plans, data analysis and so on to aid situational awareness.

The system is totally interoperable, using non-proprietary connections so that it can interface with any combination of external equipment. Practical and simple to use, the modular design also means that it is easy to update.

All this has been incorporated into a compact unit which can be mounted discretely within any vehicle, saving space and safe from both tampering and theft. But the small size is deceptive - this is one of the most robust units available. Capable of performing in the harshest environments, the internal components have multiple layers of shock absorbers and heat protection whilst a power management system monitors incoming voltage.

There are various options within the range, offering dual screens and an integrated 4-8 channel digital recording unit. The powerhouse of the range is PowerBrick Atom™ which weighs only 2 1/2 lbs enabling installation in a helicopter or on a motorbike.

Another new launch for Primetech, and an ideal partner for PowerBrick ™, is Photophone XT - a unique, encrypted mobile phone based interactive image and data application allowing real time communication between Bronze and Gold Command.

This server based system links PCs, laptops and handheld devices (Blackberry®Smartphones, Windows Mobile 5 or 6) over any IP-based communications network, such as 3G, GPRS, Satcoms, Digital/Analogue Wireless and Radio Networks.

Field officers can use the camera on their portable device to capture an image or video, adding voice over or text over notes if required, and transmit it to the Control Room and to the rest of the team.

There is the capability of multiple simultaneous users in each communication session or there can be multiple concurrent communications sessions. Images can be annotated so that text, arrows, circles etc appears on the image in real time, and an Audit Trail on the designated server will store Instant Messaging and 'press-to-talk' voice communications.

Screens from other applications (eg. GPS or mapping software) can be captured and transmitted, tagging images with GPS coordinates when captured using a GPS-activated device or camera. Users can instantly view where the image was taken, within three metres, on a mapping system (eg. Bing Maps, Google Maps) and can view the position of fire service personnel on the same maps, showing their movements as it happens.

"To ensure we can provide a comprehensive communication solution, every new product we bring into our portfolio has to be of real benefit and integrate easily with our other technologies." concludes Henry. "We're delighted by the response we've had to both these ranges."
