Award winning kneepads save injury time and money

On display in Hall 1, on stand C23 at the Safety & Health Expo (14-16 May 2013 NEC Birmingham), is a new, award winning, non-foam based, safety kneepad which maintains its maximum cushioning effect throughout consecutive or prolonged use.

Cliff Lockyer, the CEO of CL-7 Limited, which markets the Redbacks kneepads, says: Having the correct knee protection can help prevent up to 6 months down time and subsequent loss of earnings through knee injury in the workplace.

There are over *80,000 registered knee operations by the NHS each year, says Lockyer, 60% of which are due to injuries resulting from soft tissue wear and tear or osteoarthritis caused by inadequate protection whilst kneeling.

The UK designed cushioning kneepads, winners of the 2012 SATRA Best Innovation in Occupational PPE Award, feature a soft and flexible TPE (Thermo Plastic Elastomer) leaf-spring set within a unique honeycomb matrix. This new Redbacks Cushioning Technology distributes body weight evenly, elevating the knees to relieve back pain and reduce pressure on knee, leg, ankle and foot joints, whilst minimising the risk of possible injury from sharp or penetrating objects.
