AMBEX is the foremost pre-hospital and emergency healthcare forum in the UK, providing a unique opportunity for learning, information exchange, debate and networking for all those involved in the emergency healthcare sector.

Conference: Leading the Way in Emergency and Urgent Care

Continuing the direction of travel set out for NHS Ambulance Services in the Report ‘Taking Healthcare to the Patient’ (Department of Health 2005) and anticipating the forthcoming publication of the NHS Review, the theme of this year’s Conference Programme will be ‘Leading the Way in Emergency and Urgent Care’. The Programme will explore through plenary sessions focussed around service delivery and clinical improvement, how NHS Ambulance Services can be at the forefront of the developments taking place in emergency and urgent healthcare provision.

A particular emphasis is being placed on encouraging front line staff to use the event for their continuing professional development and to share their clinical knowledge and work experiences.

Key sessions will include:

1. The NHS Review and Ambulance Services (including sessions on Trauma, Keeping Patients at Home, and Skills for the Future)

2. Clinical Issues (including sessions on Stroke and Infection Control)

3. World Class Commissioning

4. The 2007 Floods and Impact on Medical and Business Continuity

5. The Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act: Implications for Emergency Services

6. London 2012 and the Impact on NHS Ambulance Services

7. An International Comparison and Experience

8. Submitted Presentations

CPD Accreditation

All Conference sessions and some training sessions in the Exhibition will be accredited for CPD.

Call for Presentations

The Conference Programme will include opportunities for staff working in the emergency and urgent healthcare sector to showcase any initiative, case study or work in progress which demonstrates high quality patient care in the UK and beyond.
Proposals for conference sessions and posters are welcome from any individual, group, or organisation and especially from front-line staff.
